I would like to highlight a few upcoming events and changes happening at Van Allen. First of all, on Thursday, November 13th, our students will have the unique opportunity to attend a presentation by the Pella Wildlife Company, a non-profit wildlife conservation organization, which will present an hour-long show at Van Allen. These shows, which offer live animal demonstration to our students, are always grabbing our student’s attention and are a big hit. A special thank you to the Henry County Conversation team for offering this opportunity to our schools.
Second, kindly mark your calendar for the night of Thursday, November 20, Van Allen students and families are invited to attend special evening presentation called, Thankful for Learning” from 5:30-7:00 pm. The presentation will offer a short overview of this year’s school-wide actions to positively impact student learning, and to provide parents a simple tool to assist your child read with you, and how to guide your child to pick the best book to read. Every attending student will receive a free book, and supper will be served starting at 5:30. Invitations will be sent next week, and your RSVP is required to help us plan the evening’s event and dinner.
And as you look at your calendar, note that Monday, November 24, or otherwise known as the Monday of Thanksgiving Week, there is no late start for Monday, November 24, as this is a two-day school week.
Have a great weekend, Don LeBlanc
