First Grade’s Thanksgiving Learning

November 2014 063First Grade’s Thanksgiving Learning

First graders at Van Allen have been busy studying about Native Americans and Pilgrims. Miss Jones’s and Mrs. Dotson’s class have read all kinds of literature about the First Thanksgiving. Students enjoyed making the costumes for the Pilgrims and Indians and wearing the costumes as they reenacted the First Thanksgiving.

It’s very evident that the students are very thankful for their families and all they do for them. Also, they are thankful for their friends, school, and staff at Van Allen. Here is an example of the kinds of writing that we saw throughout the month of November.

“ I am thankful for frends and famley becus frens are for ceepin you cumpnee. Famley is for love.”

During this time we would like to wish you a Happy Holiday Season!

Mrs. Dotson and Ms. Jones
