Lines, Angles, and Rays…OH MY!

4th graders in Mrs. Manning’s class started off this week by singing and dancing about the various types of angles…(I’ll spare you any video of Mrs. Manning singing, or dancing)…But, hope you enjoy these pictures of the 4th graders getting up and out of their seats to learn about the different types of angles.  (I’ll even provide you with the lyrics to our song, trust me…they’ll be stuck in your head the rest of the day!)

Types of Angles

(Set to YMCA by the Village People)

Right angle, we say it is 90 degrees

Acute angle, we say less than 90 degrees

Obtuse angle, we say more than 90 degrees

and a straight angle is 180!Untitled

The types of angles are right, acute, obtuse

a straight angle is 180 degrees

Now everybody sing it with me…

Right, acute, obtuse

The types of angles are right, acute, obtuse

A straight angle is 180 degrees

You’ll do real well if you know all of these…

Can you identify these angles?

When we aren’t singing, dancing or learning about math…we have been spending a great deal of time READING!  Our class is hoping to finish our first novel study, Stone Fox, by the end of this week.  If you’re looking for a real tear jerker, this is the book for you.  Based onUntitled a Rocky Mountain legend, Stone Fox, this story about a little boy, his dog and their venture to save the family farm has earned 2 thumbs up from ALL the 4th graders reading the book….and they haven’t even made it to the end!
