Third graders at Van Allen gladly see the Iowa Assessments in their rear view mirror! Last week students in grades 2-5 spent three days taking these state tests over several sessions. Third graders have a unique experience of moving from tests being read to them in second grade, to taking them independently in third grade. We are happy to report our students made the transition well.
Now that the state tests are behind us, students and teachers are looking forward to a new session of MTSS for the next 6 weeks. As we strive to best meet student needs, study groups are changing, as students are moved to their new, “ready to learn” spot. We look forward to interesting stories to read, fluency plays to perform and lots of fun as children works to become life-long readers.
Want to support your child in reading? The best gift to give your child is to read with them daily and talk about what you are reading together. Thanks for all you do to support your child’s learning.
