Dear Van Allen Community:
Mrs. Moeller started the set-up process for our March’s three-way conferences, and all parents should have received a form soliciting your preferred time to schedule your conference. We do ask for your understanding as it is not always possible to provide each family with their exact desired times. Mrs. Moeller really does look at solutions to best meet parents’ request. If you have not received the form, kindly contact us at 385-7771 and request the form.
A few tidbits of information about the upcoming conferences, which we hope will clarify the new conference format.
Our conferences are scheduled as three-way conferences where students, parents and teacher will dialogue to review your child’s progress, and make changes to your students’ Personalized Learning Plan, (PLP).
Conferences are scheduled for 20 minutes starting on Thursday, March 19 from 1:00-8:00, and on Friday, March 20 from 8:00 to 12:00.
Our school goal is to have 100% of families participate in conferences, as our rate of participation has been spectacular in the 95% range.
We expect students to be a participant in the conference process, as this creates clear lines of communication among the student, parent and teacher.
- Report cards will be sent home with students on Wednesday, March 18th.
Last week, we started our second session of MTSS, where students are placed in different instructional groups to better support their learning. Over twenty-five student groups were created, so student’s specific needs can be addressed from 2:30 to 3:00 daily, Monday through Thursday. Your child can provide you more information about his/her learning during MTSS time, however we can state that our students are actively engaged working with a Van Allen team member, as all our faculty and staff are supporting student learning during MTSS.
Burlington Bees Reading:
Last week, we had a special visitor from the Burlington Bees. “ Buzz” visited so he could talk to us about the student incentive reading program for students in grades 3 to 5. Once again, our students will be challenged to reach a reading goal, and those students achieving the reading goal will be invited to attend a Bee’s game. Last year, 100% of our students attained their reading, and we hope the same level of success this year. More information will be shared in the upcoming weeks.
