Dear Van Allen Community:
A few notes for this week
Today, our preschool students started class today, and as we all remember, the first day tugs on a parents’ emotional strings, but as I walked through the four classrooms around 9:00 am, all the students were engaged and content, and I did not see one tear. Hats-off to a very dedicated and caring preschool team, who made Day 1 a very special time for our new students.
On Friday, September 11 is an early dismissal, as students will be dismissed at 1:35, as this will be collaborative time for teachers to engage in professional development. We will continue with early releases for the remainder of the semester except for Homecoming Parade, as this will be a 2:30 dismissal for this date
Thursday, students will start the Measures of Academic Progress (MAPS) testing, which will allow teachers the opportunity to gauge our students’ skills level in literacy and numeracy, and we will reassess three times during the year to measures a s student’s growth.
