Good Morning Van Allen Community:
Dear Van Allen Community:
This is a very special week for Van Allen, as this is our annual Scholastic Book Fair week, and a fabulous time to add books to your child’s reading library. Stop over any time during the week to peruse the selection of books, or to make it easy, visit the library while attending your child’s scheduled conference.
Report cards will be sent home on Wednesday, and Thursday is a 12:30 dismissal, as this early-dismissal prepares the groundwork for our parent –teacher conferences. Conferences are offered in a three-way conference format between parent student, and teacher. This format allows all participants to hear the identical message, but equally importantly, we want our Van Allen students to be part of the conference experience simply because when students are involved, this requires the student to accept responsibility for their learning, and is self-intrinsically more rewarding.
At our last spring, parent conferences, we had an extraordinary high level of parent attendance, as 88% of our parents attended, which is a wonderful statement about our Van Allen parents’ commitment to their child’s learning.
For some reason, if you are unable to attend, please contact the office at 385-7771, so we can share the change with your child’s teacher, and remember, we will always reschedule the conference if you are unable to attend. Our goal is to communicate with 100% of our families.
A gentle reminder that our morning bell rings at 8:00 am, and we prefer that all students are on campus to attend our morning assembly. As we start the second semester, we will be examining patterns our late arrivals, as we will trade late arrivals for recesses, as we need your cooperation to ensure that your child is at school by 8:00 am.
