Second graders at Van Allen have learned about glass blower Dale Chihuly from Washington state. We looked at photos of his work and then we made two projects in the style of his bowls. The first one was a coffee filter colored with markers and then stiffened with spray starch.
The second projects was a concentric shape tempera painting with paper trims added to the edge. These additions are like the prouts a glassmaker adds to a piece of blown glass to serve as handles or deccorations.
The students really enjoyed both of these projects and the results are beautiful!
