Kindergarten Gardeners

GardenKindergarten students have been doing a unit on growing things. After learning what plants need to grow – soil, water, sunlight – and learning the parts of a plant, they got to do some planting of their own. Students’ first planting took place in the classroom as they planted bean seeds. They were planted less than a week ago and students are happy to report that they are beginning to see growth!

Our second round of planting took place yesterday in our Garden 2-2kindergarten garden box outside in front of the school. Students in both kindergarten classes took turns working up the soil, digging holes, and planting the  seeds/plants. We have planted tomatoes, green peppers,
and radishes. Hopefully we will be able to see some growth on those as well over time. When you get out and about this summer, swing by Van Allen and pick some goodies from our garden! They are for everyone to enjoy!
