Trees in the Style of Gustav Klimt

Fourth graders at Van Allen Elementary painted in the style of Art Nouveau artist Gustav Klimt for their first project.  We are doing the art element of line and looked at Klimt’s trees for inspiration.  The students were able to use old tempera paint from the img_20160920_1021537351960’s which had flakes of real gold in it!  They were fascinated by this and even more so when we found out that gold currently sells for $1349 an ounce!  Powdered tempera at that time had real gold in it.   The students want to sell their paintings,of course!
