Grade 4 Map Reading

How do I get there?  We’ve all asked that question.  Cari Nicely, the Henry County naturalist, stopped by to help our 4th grade students understand how maps work and a little about their history.  We worked on orienting our bodies and our maps to the cardinal directions placed around the room.  Understanding how to read maps help us understand the world around us.  The students are also learning about the different kinds of maps, how to decipher map keys, what a compass rose is, and how find our way from point to point on a map.  Next week Mrs. Nicely will return to teach us how to use a compass!Mrs. Breazeale
