The WORST Day of My Life EVER! By Julia Cook
The younger students read and discussed the Julia Cook story; The WORST Day of My Life EVER! In this fun story they met R.J. a young student who rushes through life and forgets to listen and follow directions. As a result, R.J. tends to experience difficulties at home and school. Students learned the difference between the act of hearing and listening. Hearing is the act of hearing sounds, but not necessarily understanding what those sounds actually mean which is exactly what listening is. R.J. soon learns that if he slows down and truly listens and follows directions that he does much better at home and in school. Here are more sites which might be helpful in helping your child to be an excellent listener. Remember modeling excellent listening skills with your child is the best way to encourage your child to listen.
