Who likes to play games? Who likes to read? Why not combine the two….
Children learn best when having fun! The first graders have been hard at work learning their sight words. We love to play the Whack-A-Mole Sight Word Game!! The teacher says a sight word and then the students find the mole holding the word on their paper. When they find the word they whack it with their mallet. This helps students become more fluent when reading because they want to be the first one to find the word. When teaching your students to read at home, try to make it into a game. You will be amazed at how excited and willing they are to learn!
