This past Wednesday, students from all the elementary schools had the opportunity to sit back and enjoy skits on the six pillars of character (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship) as Old Creamery Theatre from Amana, Iowa made its yearly stop to Van Allen. Students had the opportunity to go on a quest to find the six pillars of character in different skits. If they could figure out the pillar, they receieved a token. With the goal being to collect all six tokens and complete our quest.
Like in years past, students were able to learn about having good character through song and dance. All of the skits performed were written by students in different grades here in Iowa. Students learned about respect from bees, citizenship from crabs who decided to take pride in their home, and fairness from shoes in the closet. All the students were able to learn about having good character in a fun and creative way, and are excited to see what will happen next year.
