The Difference Between “Tattling” and “Reporting”. Does Your Child Know the Difference?

Screen Shot 2017-03-30 at 10.44.59 AMThis week students discussed the difference between “Tattling” and “Reporting”.  “Tattling” is when a child tells on another just to get that child in trouble with the adult.  Screen Shot 2017-03-30 at 10.44.50 AM“Reporting” is when a child warns a trusted adult that another child or animal could be hurt or is in danger.   Students listened to the following stories, A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue written by Julia Cook and Don’t Squeal Unless It’s a Big Deal written by Jeanie Franz Ransom.  Both of these stories do an excellent job of reporting the difference between “Tattling” and “Reporting”.

Here are some excellent sites to help you explain the difference between, “Reporting and Tattling.”
