Metamorphosis in Kindergarten?

Mrs. Snyder’s Kindergarten Class recently learned about “Metamorphosis”.  They received 5 painted lady caterpillars and watched them through their life cycle. The students watched the caterpillars eat and eat and grow and grow. Within a week or two, the caterpillars formed their chrysalis.  About a week after the first chrysalis, the butterflies emerged.  The students watched the butterflies come out of the cocoons and watched how they dried their wings and then soon began to fly.  They only kept the butterflies for a day or two and then returned them outside.  This was a great learning experience for the kindergarten students.
